A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

When I’m not making art I’m traveling with my husband, walking on trails, visiting with friends, shopping at thrift stores or taking care of my first grandchild!

2. Why do you make art?

I make art because there is a force inside of me that is bigger than any other need I have and it can only be satisfied through creating art.

3. What inspires you?

I am inspired by everything I see… flowers, shadows, smiles, shapes and colors! I try to ‘see’ a painting in everything I’m viewing!

4. What/who are your influences?

My work has been influenced by the work of Henri Matisse, Gustav Klimt, Paul Klee and, most especially, Sonia Delaunay.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

If I could meet anyone dead or alive I would certainly pick Jesus. He was a great creator and I definitely have some questions for him! If I could meet anyone dead or alive in the art community it would be Sonia Delaunay. Her groundbreaking work has inspired me not just in painting on canvas, in everything I paint and design! Sonia created in every medium she could including fabric, stage sets, public walls, cars and more. She had a great marketing gift as well and managed to share her vision with the world! I could learn a lot more from sitting down with her than I have picked up from the 40 plus books I have about her work!!!
